Okay, so I'm here at South Point in Rolleston, specifically in the Faringdon subdivision. This shopping center opened fairly recently, back in April 2017. It was actually developed in 2016 by Jo Southen and her sisters, Tania Croucher and Bridget Foster, through their family company, Foster Commercial Ltd. Hanns Construction designed and built the whole thing.
Right now, I can see a few places that have been here since it first opened, like the Faringdon Convenience Store, which also does NZ Post services, The Pedal Pusher restaurant and bar with its outdoor space, and A Pocket Full of Spices, an Indian restaurant. There's also Convergence Dance Studios upstairs, Selwyn Dental, Beerience, a laundromat called Liquid, Haven for tanning and beauty, and even an office for Aurora Dairies. It's interesting to know that a few years ago, in 2023, part of the center was actually damaged in a ram raid. Before these current spots, there used to be a Selwyn School of Dance, a clothing store, a barber, and a fish and chip shop here too.
