Okay, so I'm standing here at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval, which is a cricket ground at Lincoln University. It's pretty cool because it's hosted all sorts of matches – first-class games, and even international matches for women's and under-19 cricket.
It used to be called the BIL Oval, but they renamed it in February 2001. Apparently, a benefactor named Michael Watt asked for it to be named after Bert Sutcliffe, who was a New Zealand opening batsman.
The first first-class match here was back in November 1999, when England A played the North Island. Since then, it's been used a lot for A team matches and domestic games, including the 2009 State Championship final.
This place is a big deal for women's cricket, too. It hosted the final and both semi-finals of the 2000 Women's World Cup, and it was the main venue for the World Series of Women's Cricket in 2003. The New Zealand women's team plays touring sides here regularly.
They even had a Men's One Day International here once, between the Netherlands and Kenya, during the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. So yeah, definitely a historic spot for cricket!
