Hey, so I'm here at the Rangiora Recreation Ground, or MainPower Oval as it’s called now because of a sponsorship. It’s pretty cool to think this place has been around since the early 1870s, and they’ve been playing cricket here since 1891.

It wasn't until 2003 that it hosted its first first-class match, with Canterbury playing Central Districts. Actually, since the Christchurch earthquake in 2011 really messed up Lancaster Park, Canterbury has been playing a lot of their home matches right here. They’ve had a bunch of List A matches too, starting in 2003 against Auckland, and even eight in the 2011-12 Ford Trophy. By the end of the 2024–25 season, there will have been 42 first-class and 32 List A matches here!

They’ve even had some international action, with two Youth One Day Internationals for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. Plus, the Canterbury Women's team has been using this as their home ground since 2006, and the Canterbury Country Hawke Cup team also plays here – they even defended their title against North Otago back in 2014-15. Pretty neat history for a local ground!
