Tamariki School

Right here is Tamariki School, tucked away in Woolston. It’s the oldest ‘free school’ in New Zealand and one of the oldest in the world. It opened in 1966, started by a bunch of parents and teachers who were really into preventive mental health. The name “Tamariki” is Māori for young children. Hard to believe this quiet little school has that kind of history behind it.
