The Second Great Trek in 1957 was another time students here demanded more funding for university facilities. The university needed more space to accommodate the increasing number of students.
This time, the AMS President Donald Jabour, Treasurer Allan Thackray, and the chairman of the Second Great Trek Committee, Ben Trevino, went to Victoria. They presented the Provincial Cabinet with a petition that had 86,000 signatures. They also brought an impressive brief they had prepared about the university's financial situation.
Shortly after this trek, the provincial government made an announcement. They said that in addition to the $10 million they had already committed for development, they would match any contribution to the university up to $5 million. The result of this Second Great Trek was an extension to Brock Hall.
